Authored Insights

Michelle V. Oliva has been an education researcher, evaluator, and technical assistance consultant for over 15 years, including time at American Institutes for Research, Learning Point Associates, and the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago. Michelle works with partners and clients to understand perception data and unpack the contextual factors that may explain a program’s impact, strengths, and challenges. Her expertise includes project management, facilitation of interviews and focus groups with various stakeholders, community participant outreach, data analysis, and report writing.

Michelle also has substantial experience facilitating working groups with nonprofit and community leaders where they examine practices using evidence and culturally responsive approaches. At EduDream, she leads the qualitative research portfolio, which includes facilitating focus groups, leading interviews, conducting landscape analyses, and facilitating retreats. Michelle earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and a Master of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago. She is fluent in written and conversational Spanish.

​​Michelle’s passion for more equitable education experiences for all students stems from her personal experiences as a product of the Chicago Public Schools, daughter of immigrants, and first-generation college student.
